“Weekends” – Oh I cant describe how much I look forward to the weekend. Last weekend was just one of those kinds. Friday went in a lot of planning so as to how we could make the weekend fun-filled yet productive. Saturday went with a lot of roaming around and finishing off a couple of things in the TO-DO list. Sunday was the day, that was left to experiment with cooking. I thought of trying out something with mushroom. Well the motivation for preparing mushroom was that I had mushrooms at one of my friends place and it just ignited a spark in my mind that this was indeed something that I could experimented with. So here goes the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Mushroom – 200 grams
- Onion – 2 numbers
- Tomato – 2 numbers
- Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder (1/4 teaspoon), Chilly powder(1/2 teaspoon), Garam masala(1/2 teaspoon), salt to taste
- Green Chilly – 2 numbers
- Cooking Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Cooking Butter – 1″ wide cube
- Soy Sauce, Chilly Sauce
- Coriander leaves
Procedure:
- Cut mushroom into medium sized pieces and clean them properly. A tip from mom, was to soak it in a little hot water after add some turmeric powder to it.
- Chop onions into small pieces.
- In a pan, put little cooking oil and then once it is heated, add chopped onions and saute it till it changes color to brown.
- Meanwhile, make tomato puree by grinding it.
- Once the onions turns brown in color, add 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste
- Next add turmeric powder (1/4 teaspoon), chilly powder(1/2 teaspoon), garam masala(1/2 teaspoon), salt to taste. Saute for about a minute.
- Add the tomato puree followed by some cooking butter (at least an inch wide cube). Add two chopped green chillies.
- Add the mushroom pieces and stir well. Leave the mushroom pieces to be cooked (This may take about 10-15 minutes, depending upon the mushroom).
- Once the mushroom pieces are cooked, add 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. If your taste buds are on the spicy side a little bit of chilly sauce can also be added.
- And yes! the mushroom curry is ready. You can season with coriander leaves.
